A Kitchener man is recovering in a Detroit hospital after a bone-marrow transplant that came after a Windsor-based bone marrow awareness group helped with the donor search.
Dany Mercado, 24, is at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, where he received the transplant Tuesday.

On the eve of a bone-marrow transplant that just might save his life, Dany Mercado is feeling confident.
"I am ready," the 24-year-old Kitchener man said on the weekend from a cancer centre in Detroit. "I've been (prepared) for five years."
Mercado is to get a transplant tomorrow at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, five years after he was diagnosed with cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
